Calendula body oil offers a range of benefits, making it a versatile addition to any skincare routine. Known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, calendula helps to calm and heal the skin, making it ideal for everyday use! Calendula flowers, with their vibrant orange and yellow petals, are not only a stunning addition to any garden but offer many benefits both topically and internally. These blooms have been used for centuries to promote healthy skin and soothe irritation.

Calendula can be used internally in teas and broths for gentle gut and lymphatic support. However, Calendula is more commonly used for topical preparation like an infused oil. Calendula body oil provides essential hydration and supports the skin’s natural repair processes. While it’s great for general skincare, it’s also a fantastic choice for after sun exposure. With its calming effects, this calendula body oil helps to soothe sun-kissed skin and maintain moisture balance.

Ingredients:

  • Dried calendula blossoms
  • Dried calendula leaves
  • Topical oil of choice (jojoba used in this recipe)

Method:

  • Combine dried calendula blossoms and crushed leaves in a glass jar
  • Cover the plant material with oil until fully submerged
  • Cap the jar and allow the oil to infuse for several weeks
  • Once infused, strain the oil through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth to catch any plant bits
  • Decant the oil into amber dropper bottles and apply liberally to skin after sun exposure
  • NOTES: Using blossoms and leaves of the Calendula plant will increase the resin content and nutrient spectrum of this oil, making it perfectly soothing and ultra-repairing after prolonged sun exposure.  This oil should not be used in place of SPF products.
