How often do you HEAR yourself?

You will never speak to anyone more than you speak to yourself in your head.

But are you truly hearing the words of the one person you must always know inside and out?

At our fingertips, we have dozens of ways to sound-proof our brains. We lay our thumbprints on the home buttons of our phones, even when we know there’s nothing new to see. We fall asleep with the TV on, even when we’re not really listening. We eat away our gut feelings and drink away the lumps in our throat. When is the last time you truly sat alone with your own thoughts?

In a world where it’s so easy to drown out that inner voice, we must push ourselves into activities that leave us vulnerable to the things we need (but may not want) to hear.

You have to take that walk, do that hour of yoga, dedicate that time to meditation or writing in your journal. You have to think the hard thoughts, have the tough conversations with yourself, feel the uncomfortable feels.

Sometimes the initial pain of boredom tricks us into forgetting the magic of imagination.

Sometimes we’re so hooked on stimulation that we can’t bear the absence of chaos.

Sometimes we humans resist the one thing we really need.

Sometimes it’s just easier to be numb.

How can we know ourselves if we can’t even hear ourselves?

How many of us are taking for granted the greatest company we’ll ever have?

We miss out on being our own best friend when we’re not ready for the honesty that only a friend can provide…we lose the answers to our fears when we fear being alone.

What if I told you, you are already everything you want to be? That this person has been inside of you all along- you just need to take the chance to get to know them?

Let yourself get bored. Let yourself get angry. Let it all out and discover who is buried underneath. You are the one you’ve been waiting for. Find yourself…❤
